Testing the Internet

Floating menu

What you’ll learn

You’ll learn how to automate the testing of floating elements on a web page using Leapwork. This includes sticky top menus, cookie banners, or any element that remains visible while scrolling, ensuring they don’t block actions and are reliably detectable.

Key lessons

  • Launch the test case page and capture a paragraph further down the page to trigger scrolling.
  • Enable the Scroll Into View option to make the browser scroll automatically.
  • Capture the home button (or other floating element) to verify it stays visible at the top.
  • Check the Y position of the floating element using a Compare block to confirm it remains within the viewport.
  • Connect the comparison result to Pass or Fail blocks to validate the test.
  • Run the flow and ensure the floating element remains visible while the page scrolls.
